The rooms being small was expected for the low price. What I didn't expect was the filthy, spotted carpet, which was really disgusting, and mold in the bathroom. I've stayed in plenty of cheap hostels in different cities, but this one I wouldn't recommend at all.

The price is decent, but the discomfort made it not worth it for me. I could hear people in other rooms and in the hallway as if they were right beside me, and the room and bathroom were tiny. The drain was clogged, the tram passing outside made a lot of noise, and it took at least 15-20 minutes to walk to the main center. Breakfast was just two slices of bread, ham and cheese, plus watery coffee.

The neighborhood was the one good part. Getting inside was already a struggle: there's no front desk, the front door is locked, and you have to hope another guest comes by and lets you in. Then you need to find an attendant somewhere in the building to get your room. It's a three-story walk-up with no elevator. As for the room, I'll just say, trust me, don't stay there. With a complete renovation, an elevator, and an attendant at a real front desk, the building might make a good boutique hotel. Right now, stay away.

It's a good area, with a lovely park and the Basilica nearby, and the famous 28 tram goes right past the building. You can walk to where all the action is, too. The neighborhood feels very Portuguese. The rooms are just OK, but if you're on a budget and want a clean place in a good location, this works.

I liked the building's vintage feel, even though it's old. The bedroom was small, but the low price made that understandable. The location is good, about a 15-minute walk from the center of Lisbon.
