LxRoller Lisboa Central

The beds were super comfortable, and for a hostel the place was beautifully finished. We loved the facilities too, especially the large, well-equipped kitchen, terrace, and sitting room. We had a lovely stay and would recommend it to young travellers or couples. All the best!

Getting checked in was extremely difficult, and the room looked nothing like the photos. There were brown marks on the walls and the bed felt like a prison bed. I stayed for about five minutes before deciding it was too disgusting to sleep there. Then came a month-long effort to get my money back. The host accused me of lying and refused a refund. She does the same to guests who leave bad feedback, according to the reviews, so check them yourself. DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE.

The shared bathroom and my private bedroom both smelled of mould, and I spotted a few dark mouldy marks on the mirror. Sometimes the smell reached the bedroom. The common areas were really good, and I was only there for two nights, so I hadn't planned to leave a review. I raised the mould as a possible health issue for future guests with Airbnb and said I wasn't looking to argue. The host got rude, denied there was mould, said I watched too much TV, and insisted the place was in the best condition. After Airbnb refunded the cleaning fee as compensation, she told me I'd “robbed” her. Being argued with and disrespected after spending money there felt disgraceful. Other reviews mention similar problems and say she's confrontational. The place could have more potential if she listened to customers instead of arguing. It's okay for a quick stay near the center, but as the host said to me, “what do you expect, Hilton?”

We left after just two minutes because we couldn't imagine staying the night. We contacted the host right away to say we'd gone and ask for a refund, but she refused, didn't seem to understand why we wanted our money back, and attacked us on Airbnb and WhatsApp. Earlier, getting in had taken a while because of system problems, and the room was hard to find with nobody there to help. It looked nothing like the pictures: it was tiny, with brown stains on the wall and a bed that looked and felt like a prison bed. The “bathroom” was split between one tiny room with a toilet and another tiny room with a shower. For 70€ a night, it felt more like a cheap hostel than an Airbnb. Previous reviews show she takes criticism personally and can't handle it. I wouldn't recommend this place, since there are much nicer, cleaner Airbnbs for the same price. The area is nice, though, and it can be booked last minute if you can't find anything else.
