Hotel Martinhal Lisbon Oriente

A great hotel for families. The staff were welcoming and accommodating, and our room had a kitchenette, washing machine, and a separate bunk-bed area. Both heated pools, indoor and outdoor, were open in February, and the garden trampoline was very popular. It’s handy for the aquarium, science museum, and a supermarket. Two red-line metro stations are a short walk away for trips to the city centre or airport. Our cab from the airport took 15 minutes and cost €10. Highly recommend.

The staff and management put a lot of effort into doing things well and looking after guests, the hotel, and the workers. The parking area is very spacious, and the rooms look luxurious with outstanding views. There’s a heated outdoor pool and a heated indoor one, a modern gym, and a room where kids can stay busy and entertained. The kitchen is clean, and the hotel feels safe.

After staying in Lisbon many times, this was my favorite place to enjoy some space and peace away from the city centre. Four friends shared a spotless, beautifully designed three-bedroom apartment with a lovely balcony and views. The breakfast was the best hotel breakfast I could imagine, with both à la carte choices and an extensive buffet. Even in mid-January, we could get into central Lisbon in just a few minutes, then return to the heated outdoor pool under clear skies and bright sunshine. We also used the gym and indoor pool. The apartment would work well for families too, with its kitchen and washer-dryer. Best of all were the warm, welcoming staff. What an incredible stay. I can’t wait to return!

The garden views were wonderfully relaxing, even though busy Lisbon streets are just steps away. Our room was modern, spacious, and comfortable, with a well-equipped, efficient kitchenette. The under-counter fridge is small, but the extra counter space and cooktop felt like a fair trade. The cheerful staff made us feel welcome from the start. A train station is just up the street, with most of the walk covered. The waterfront is a block the other way, with plenty of restaurants. The Oceanarium is huge and a must-see, and kids also seemed to enjoy the Science Museum beside it. The station connects to a large mall with lots of shops. With the Metro, regional trains, and so much within walking distance, Lisbon is right at your fingertips. Five stars, easily.
