Hotel Dom Sancho I

I was there for three days, and because my room was next to the kitchen they gave me breakfast for free each morning. The hotel is in a very convenient part of Lisbon, the bed was comfortable, and the shower was good.

The rooms were fine, but the front desk service brought my rating down. The man there questioned our vacation plans twice and tried to get us to change them. He pushed us to book more dates with him and offered overpriced rides to the airport. He offered to book a train, then kept listing the schedule even after we’d said several times what time we wanted. Finally he said, “ok book it on your phone”… a waste of our time.

I was skeptical after finding the hotel on Hotwire because of its low rating, but I’m glad I booked it. It’s well located for landmarks, restaurants, and the metro, and the staff were great. I especially liked Bruno and the cleaning staff, who were helpful and accommodating. My room and towels were clean whenever I got back from exploring. The AC worked fine, and the beds were clean and comfortable enough. I’d recommend it if you like walking and staying close to everything.

For a two star hotel, the location on the Avenida Liberdade is great. It’s on the second floor of an old building, and the friendly service suited the cosy little room, with vintage wooden furniture, traditional damask wallpaper, a decent marble bathroom, and a fridge. The help-yourself breakfast has a reasonable selection, but the quality is poor, so we were happy to choose a café instead.
