Braamcamp Sublime Hostel

The service was nice, so I gave it 3 stars. The hostel itself felt really poor, though. The bathrooms are tiny, and there’s nowhere to sit, read, or work on a laptop. The roof is closed. It might suit someone on a tight budget, but to me it wasn’t worth the money.

I was glad to be checking out the day two policemen turned up to see what was happening. Before that, my things had been moved to a different room without anyone telling me, and later I found some of them missing. I didn’t even bother asking because I was having dinner in the kitchen. There’s one bathroom for so many people, and it doesn’t close, so you have to guess if someone’s inside. The shower room is too small for two. Maybe the intentions are good, but even for the price the quality is poor. Hope things improve.

I only got half my money back after spotting that I’d booked the wrong number of days and calling right away. When we got there, the room was dirty, with black hairs everywhere and sheets that looked used. At night the street noise was so bad I thought a bus would run me over. The bathrooms were filthy, the paint was peeling, and the shower water was cold. There are just two small bathrooms for fifty people.

After one night, I woke up and found my coat gone. They did nothing about it and acted as if that were normal. The trouble started at check-in, when they nearly doubled the price in our reservation for me and my friend. It felt like they’d ripped us off from the start. This place shouldn’t exist.
