Morgan-Jupiter Apartments

The apartment’s condition was disappointing. The clothes drying rack was broken, water leaked from the shower area and left the floor wet, and the place generally needed better maintenance. We stayed six nights in June, and although two cleanings were included for that length of stay, no one told us until we asked. It was a male staff member who finally explained it. The location is good and very central, but the women at reception weren’t friendly and only shared information when we specifically asked.

We booked a Lisbon apartment for one night through Booking, then noticed in the confirmation email that several important conditions had been tucked into the fine print and weren’t clearly shown on the booking page. Arriving late would mean a large check-in charge, which in our case cost more than the night itself. We were also expected to let the host hold a 250€ deposit on arrival. Other reviews said the host had sometimes deducted money for incidents that never happened. We asked Booking to cancel, but the host wouldn’t allow a free cancellation and was very slow to respond on Whatsapp. In the end, we paid the cancellation fee and booked somewhere else. We didn’t want to hand a 250€ deposit to a host we didn’t trust.

The apartment was spacious and clean, in a lovely old building with an authentic feel. We could walk to lots of places, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

There was a leak dripping constantly, and it made sleep almost impossible. I reported it on my first day, then learned the property already knew about it from a previous guest, who had been offered a room change. I wasn’t moved or given any other option. They promised me a voucher but never sent it, and haven’t answered any of my follow-up messages. The apartment itself was stylish, clean, beautiful, and in a great location. But as a solo woman travelling, I was told a “serviceman” would enter, and it turned out to be a real estate inspection. I hadn’t agreed to that, and nobody had clearly explained what was happening. It left me wondering if anyone had also been in my room while I was away, which was deeply unsettling. The lack of communication, transparency, and respect for my privacy and comfort made this a very negative stay. I wouldn’t recommend it if you expect basic respect and peace of mind as a guest.
