Hotel Nazareth

Clean and comfortable, with good air-con and no problem with outside noise. The rooms are a little dated and rough around the edges, but that’s fair for a budget hotel. The location is brilliant: two metro stations are a short walk away, the airport is around 20 minutes away and the city centre around 10. Staff were extremely helpful and spoke perfect English. We’d happily come back.

DONT STAY HERE. I booked a double room, then went up with a friend just to change clothes and use the bathroom before we went out for the night. The old mullah at reception demanded an extra fee for another person staying there and wouldn’t listen when I explained we were leaving again. He charged me 24 euros and threatened to call the police. I even offered to have my friend leave, but he said that wasn’t possible because my friend had already been in the room. I spoke to the manager, but she agreed it was my fault for not asking permission. Reception had seen us go in without stopping us, so it felt like a trap to make us pay extra. Greedy, extortionist and hateful. The room itself was awful too: only one place to charge anything, a window that wouldn’t close, people moving furniture around, and sound coming through the doors and walls.

The bed was really comfortable and the linen smelled nice. The room was very clean. The hotel is old, and the common areas could use some TLC. We arrived late at night and had a little trouble getting in, but worked it out. The front desk rep was kind and very professional. Great location.

The rooms are a decent size, generally clean, and the staff are friendly and efficient. But the hotel feels about 50 years past its best. Stored equipment and ladders clutter the halls, water stains mark the ceilings, and fixtures are coming down. The hair dryers are Soviet-era bakelite. It’s all rather depressing. For one night in and out, it’ll do.
