O Jardim da Tessa

From the outside, you might not expect much, since access to the building isn’t open to the public, though that also makes it feel secure. Inside, the rooms are lovely and spacious, the bedding is comfortable, and it was handy to have a kettle for tea and coffee. The breakfast buffet was small but enough for us. The metro, bus, and tram were all nearby. We heard the metro, and the walls were thin. Even so, after three nights we’d happily stay here again.

I’m so upset that I can’t even appreciate the parts that weren’t the fault of the kind staff, such as the cleaning team and receptionist. We had a confirmed reservation and payment for six people from June 6-8, 2025, at O Jardim da Tessa. Our flight was delayed, so on May 16, 2025, I sent a detailed message saying we’d arrive around 1:00 a.m. on June 7. I received no answer to that, only a reply about checkout time. Later they asked again when we’d arrive, so I repeated the information. The flight was delayed again, and I sent another message, but got no response. We had also booked a taxi through your service via booking.com, and that all went perfectly. When we reached the accommodation at 1:30 a.m., nobody replied to our messages. The only response we got was that we should come to check in the next day. What was that supposed to mean? I don’t accept this kind of treatment and want compensation from the accommodation. I’ll mention it in the review too. Please look into this and resolve it if possible. Thank you, Jana Kojetínová and friends.

There were cockroaches in the room at night, pigeon droppings all over the stairwell, and the toilet wouldn’t flush properly. The host took no responsibility and didn’t answer calls or emails, and offered no refund. Booking only refunded a tiny amount. We stayed one of the two nights, then had to find another place. It was stressful, dirty, and not worth it. I’ve attached photos. Check the area before booking too, as it didn’t feel very safe.

A really good deal, which I rarely find. The rooms were clean, and there was a small, cozy inner courtyard and a pleasant spot to have breakfast. Breakfast itself was simple but nice, and the location was good, just a few steps from the metro.
