Old Town Lx Suites

I strongly advise against renting here. The landlord has ignored me and won't return my deposit, even though I met all my obligations as a tenant and left the apartment in perfect condition. My messages asking about the refund have gone unanswered. It's dishonest and unprofessional, and from what I understand, I'm not the only one dealing with this. A responsible landlord should keep their commitments, but that hasn't happened here.

The apartment itself looked very nice, and at first we tried to keep an open mind. But the place stank of urine, the sheets were dirty and stained, and the alley outside was dingy and smelled of urine too. On our second day, the shower started spitting up urine. We called Anna, who spent five minutes explaining before saying they'd send a plumber. They did send one and it was fixed, to be fair, but there was no apology or offer of a refund. The apartment still costs a fortune, and other comments suggest the plumbing problem may be ongoing. One of the worst experiences of my life. Do not stay here.

I booked three nights at Old Town Lx Suites through Expedia for August 2022, choosing a Deluxe Double Room with a king-size bed. The description and photos showed a bright, spacious, clean room with nice furniture and two floor-to-ceiling windows. In Lisbon, I was given a small, shabby room with no king-size bed, no nice furniture, and no tall windows. I contacted the proprietor thinking it was a mixup, but got explanations that the website photos had been mixed up and that the booking looked different on their end. The written description was wrong for the room too, and using incorrect photos to advertise it is fraudulent, so none of that made sense. They did nothing to fix it. I don't know whether it was an honest mistake or a scam, but I was stuck with the consequences. Other Expedia reviews suggest this may have happened to guests before. There were also problems in the room: the patio door's top hinge was broken and it partly fell in, one toilet flush didn't work properly, the bed was hard, and there were flies on the patio. Caveat emptor.

We stayed five days in room 104, now called Old Town LX suites. It was spacious and nice, with a balcony and air conditioning that worked well for cooling. The location is excellent, near the metro, ferry, timeout market, Rebeira market, plenty of bars and restaurants, and the city center. The TV was mounted very high, almost over the door. The place isn't soundproof, so guests need to be considerate. I also wouldn't choose a high pile carpet for a hotel room, since it's hard to keep clean even with daily vacuuming. Emails went unanswered and I only got standard forms, sometimes switching between English and French. Luckily, someone was there to let me in. With all the luggage, figuring out the codes on arrival was too much, but once we were settled everything worked great.
