The apartment was clean, tidy, and well equipped, and whenever we needed something the staff responded quickly. The people working there were wonderful, and the location put us right in the middle of shops and restaurants, with attractions an easy walk away. It could get noisy, especially with street performances, but that felt like part of staying somewhere so central. There’s no elevator right now; one is being built and was expected to be finished later this year. We also found the locals very friendly. We even got to hear a singalong from our balcony one night. We’d happily recommend the place.

We spent five nights here, and the balcony room came with a great view over the square, where local concerts played every evening. It added a lot to the atmosphere. The hotel is right in the heart of the city, so everything is only steps away. There’s no lift, but the staff were always kind and ready to help with our luggage. I really appreciated that. I’d definitely recommend it if you want to enjoy Lisbon’s energy and charm.

Getting checked in was the one real hassle. We booked through American Airlines advantage, which used a third party, and the AAA site didn’t mention the restrictions. If you arrive after 6pm, you have to tell them in advance so they can give you the entry code and a key. I only found out by digging through other reviews, or we’d have been stuck. The stay itself was great. Apartment 52 was up squared-off spiral stairs, quite a climb, though at 65 we figured it made up for missing our usual workouts on vacation. It was adorable, and the two bedrooms helped since my husband had left his CPAP behind and can snore. With the shutters closed and aircon on, street noise didn’t bother me at all, and I didn’t need the earplugs I’d packed because of the bad reviews. It was spotless, even by my clean-freak standards. I checked the floors with a damp tissue and nothing came up dirty. They also brought an iron when we asked, and left cold water and treats for us. I’d stay there again every time.

The rooms, staff, and location were all lovely, and we had a fantastic stay. The stairs are there, but staff are happy to help with bags. We could hear some noise, though we found it pleasant and expected that from a location like this. I’ll stay here again when I’m back in Lisbon.
