Palácio das Especiarias

The hotel was gorgeous and really distinctive, and we were welcomed warmly from the moment we arrived. Throughout the stay, the staff were kind and attentive. The bedsheets were the most comfortable we’ve ever had. Breakfast was delicious, with plenty of variety, and felt as intentional and peaceful as everything else there. It was also perfectly central for exploring Lisbon on foot. We had the best time and hope to return just to stay here again.

We spent four nights here during a weather event, and the stay couldn’t have been more wonderful. There was a problem with our room, but the staff were so helpful and moved us into another room for the rest of our stay. Every room is different, so have a look through all the options when booking. The breakfast was delicious, everyone was welcoming, and that was the best pillow and bed combination I slept on during the whole trip.

The location made getting around easy, with shops and major sights only a short walk away. I also loved the wine and cheese served freely, and the hotel arranged a taxi for my arrival, which took the stress out of the start of the trip. My room was tidy and looked just like the photos. The little vanity sets in the bathroom were a nice touch, and breakfast was brilliant. I didn’t have enough time to try the spa, so I’ll have to leave that for another visit. It was a very satisfying first stay in Portugal.

I’ve now stayed at all three hotels in this group: Solar das Poetas, Las Flores, and Palacio das Especiarias. This latest one is the grandest and most glamorous. The buildings are beautiful and whimsical, but it’s the atmosphere the staff create that really makes a stay memorable. Concierge Willian Meirelles makes Palacio feel like home. Seeing it through his eyes is part of what makes this place such a gem. Ana Clara and Igor were lovely, and the musicians Cecilia and Iryna added so much to the experience.
