Porta do Mar Deluxe Serviced Apartments

The location was great, but I wouldn't book this apartment again. We told the hosts months ahead that we'd check in at 4 pm and confirmed that time the day before. When we arrived at 4, the cleaner was there and clearly only just starting to prepare the place, so we had to go away for two hours while it was cleaned. There was no toilet paper when we returned. At checkout, we asked to leave our luggage in the apartment for one extra hour given what happened at check-in, but the host ignored us.

The location is nice, but I can't recommend the property. Several things in our booked room were broken, and the staff were completely unresponsive and didn't seem to care. The safe didn't work, the shower faucet came right off, and the sink had no drain cover. The stone front piece was missing, leaving glue and the underside exposed. The towel bar bent down at a 45 degree angle and was useless, and the shower drain cover was broken. There was mould and mildew throughout the bathroom and significant rust as well. Before giving us any kind of code, they demanded an additional 250 euro “deposit.” It felt unethical and sketchy. I'm spending the second half of my vacation trying to get the charge released and obtain some compensation for the unacceptable state of the unit. Unless you want to flush money down a probably broken toilet, book somewhere else.

We were so disappointed that we left days early, even though we'd already paid for those nights. The rooms were nowhere near as clean as they looked on Booking dot com. The walls were scratched and stained, and there was fungus on the ceiling. One set of towels was missing, and there was only one glass for drinking water. Wi-Fi was weak and intermittent on the third floor, with none at all on the fourth. We sent management our concerns and asked for extra towels, but they didn't bother replying.

We love Lisbon as a family, and the apartment's location was fantastic. That was the only good part. The SERVICE was among the worst I've encountered. The apartment was filthy, with stains on every mattress and sheet and hair all over the bathroom. The cleaner was still “cleaning” when we arrived, well after check-in time. We contacted the company, but they weren't interested and were very rude, so we left immediately. We found another place, but have since been trying to get our money back. They won't even try. It's a vile company, and the premises are disgusting, not fit for a cockroach. Be aware they'll ask for €250 by bank transfer just before you arrive. Getting it back was very difficult, and it's the only thing I haven't had taken.
