Portas do Castelo Apartments

We liked the owner, who was very kind and made sure we had what we needed. The apartment is a good sized place in Lisboa, and nothing obvious was missing. The location is almost perfect, near all the sights but in a calm neighborhood. The bathroom is spacious and modern, with plenty of towels, shampoo, and other things you might need. The wooden floor near the shower has mold on it, though, which isn't comfortable. The bedroom setup also brought the rating down. The queen bed was comfortable enough, but the single beds have thin mattresses on flat wooden boards with little support. They weren't awful, just not pleasant. Since sleeping and showering take up so much of a stay, those two issues are enough to keep this at three stars for me.

The balcony had fantastic views, and the apartment was lovely, with a comfy bed and a great shower that also had a view. The kitchen had everything we needed, and there was a supermarket nearby. It's right beside the castle, though getting there means climbing a lot of steps. The view made it worth the walk.

The bed was good, and the location is central and scenic, with the main Lisbon attractions an easy walk away. There is some uphill walking along the way. Beyond that, I found the apartment extremely uncomfortable. The entrance door is tiny, there's no place to hang a coat or bag, and the place feels unwelcoming. Noise carries from every direction, even individual footsteps. We stayed one night, and I was dreading the rest of the trip.

It's a lovely, spacious flat in a great area, near plenty of restaurants, shops, and sights. We had a really enjoyable stay and could get to everything easily. Just be ready to walk. There's no street access or parking. The so-called road is a staircase, with the flat halfway up and not visible from either end.
