Pouso Dos Anjos

I don't like leaving bad reviews, but this stay was an exception. We booked more than a month ahead. Our flight landed at 6 a.m., and when we called, we were told that if we booked the previous night, we could check in when reception opened at 8 a.m. We accepted that arrangement. At 7 a.m. we were outside trying to find somewhere to wait. We saw lights and staff moving inside, so we went to check whether it was open. My wife urgently needed the bathroom, and we rang the bell. A woman answered right away. She didn't speak any Portuguese and spoke very little English. When I explained that we'd already rented the space and only asked to let my wife use the bathroom before we continued waiting outside, she replied contemptuously, "It's not my problem," and shut the door. She was at reception when it opened and was rude and disrespectful again when she served us. If a guest house is meant to make you feel welcome and at home, this did the opposite. The room was very basic, with the hardest mattress I've ever slept on, and no soundproofing, so we could hear every noise imaginable. The bathroom was disappointing too, with a broken shower and mold everywhere. The only good things were the hot water and a long-haired receptionist who was really nice to us.
