The location was the one real plus, but the owner made our four-day stay in November with a friend very uncomfortable. We’d booked two rooms, one with a shared bathroom and a larger one with three beds and its own bathroom. He insisted we stay only in our assigned rooms, saying we’d owe extra if either of us went into the other’s room, even though both were paid for. When we offered to use just the larger room, he refused. I ended up alone in mine and my friend in his, which took away the flexibility we expected on holiday. We were already worn out from a long flight when we arrived, and instead of a welcome the owner gave us a lecture that lasted about half an hour. He kept repeating rules, including that any water outside the shower had to be wiped up at once. There were warning notes everywhere. I understand wanting to look after a property, but his strict, rude manner made us feel unwelcome from the start. He was around the building every day, which felt intrusive, and sent messages to our personal phones late at night, around 10 or 11, telling us not to make noise even when we weren’t there. I finally told him to leave us alone. The towels also seemed second-hand and weren’t very clean. We met a polite, friendly Bangladeshi manager, but the owner’s controlling behavior overshadowed that. Poor service, too many rules, no flexibility, and an uncomfortable atmosphere. I wouldn’t recommend the guesthouse.

I’d strongly advise against booking here. The owner is extremely unreasonable, and you’re likely to have a terrible experience.

The room was comfortable, clean, and had a new bathroom. The guesthouse was perfect for us, and the owner was very friendly and helpful. The basic rules actually made our stay more comfortable. I don’t know why people leave negative comments. Thanks again, mir Syed.

For the price, this turned out to be a great place to stay, and we’ll definitely come back. We’re Portuguese from the Azores and just needed somewhere to crash for one night. After a nightmare at a place near Saldanha metro that cost more, we came here without a reservation and paid in advance. The owner’s number was on the main door. We called, explained, and he arrived within five minutes. He was pleasant, showed us the room before we paid, handed over the keys, and left. Later, when we asked for towels, he brought some that were new and smelled clean. I’m a clean freak, so I noticed. Room number 1 was simple and easy to keep clean, with three beds, an open clothes-hanging cabinet, a fan, three outlets plus one in the bathroom, and a balcony with a great view. The private bathroom was a good size, new, and clean. A chair, small desk, and maybe a mat by the bed would have been nice additions. There’s no TV, which didn’t bother me, and the wifi was good. The rooms are very clean and private. The kitchen was clean and in great shape, with new appliances including a combo fridge, microwave, and water heater. It had silverware, soap, a sponge, and other basics. All three bathrooms were new, large, and very clean. The balcony view is lovely, and the metro and bus stop are right outside, with supermarkets all around. The only rule was no noise after 10 pm, which seems normal. The owner has clearly made many improvements since older reviews. We had no complaints.
