The location is very good, in a quiet and safe neighborhood near the metro and train station. There's a large theater and event venue right next door with a supermarket and restaurants. We had a pleasant stay at this brand new Marriott. The room was lovely, clean, new and spacious enough, with a kitchenette like other Residence Inn properties. Breakfast was complimentary. The selection was limited, but we enjoyed it: three hot dishes, scrambled egg, tomato and bacon, plus pastries, fruit, cold cuts, cereal, yogurt, coffee, tea, hot chocolate and juice. Check-in took a while, and as a Marriott Platinum member I wasn't told about any welcome gift or points. The laundry area at B1, on the gym level, was still under construction. When I went down one morning, it smelled strongly of cigarettes and dust.

There are plenty of restaurants and grocery stores nearby, and it's a good neighborhood with quick access to trains, the metro and buses. The rooms are a good size, and the staff are friendly. I couldn't cast to the TV or use Netflix, as I was told the system wasn't operational yet. The laundry room was also closed because the hotel had just opened. I'd booked twice using Bonvoy points many months ahead, but as a Platinum member I wasn't offered an upgrade or even a high floor, which I often get at other Marriott hotels.

The cleaning staff were very attentive to detail, and Viktor in particular was professional and helpful. I was upgraded to a one-bedroom suite even though I'm only a Gold member. Highly recommend. It's also Europe's first Residence Inn!

Our room was spacious and very quiet, and breakfast was plentiful. The staff were friendly and accommodating, even helping us get a last-minute reservation at Skizzo! The hotel is near the subway and two grocery stores. Our only issue was that two gym machines were broken, leaving only the treadmills available.

I was told at check-in that it was a soft opening that week, but nobody had warned me beforehand that construction was still going on. The hotel was brand new, but clearly wasn't ready to open, and the stay was terrible. There were toxic polyurethane fumes, and the heating system hummed all night because it wasn't working properly. The lobby doors didn't open consistently. I had to jump and wave at them, and even that didn't always work. The gym wasn't ready until our second day, so we missed out since we were only there for three nights. Each day we came back, there were ladders in the front area that we had to walk around. I contacted the GM, Claudia Gomes, who apologized and said she'd refund the points for my stay. When I followed up, she went back on her word and returned only 10,000 points instead of the full amount. I wish someone had told me about the construction and soft opening so I could have chosen whether to stay. Instead, I felt like we were guinea pigs being tested under those conditions.
