Santos 33, Lisbon Apartment

I spent a month there in April 25'. Luis was a great host, quick to come and fix things or help when something went wrong. He was also accommodating with check-in and checkout.

The bathroom had such a strong ammonia smell, like a cow shed, that I could barely breathe normally when I went in. It made the whole apartment unpleasant. Communication with the owner was really bad too. Don’t book here.

This place is awful. The staff, especially Luis, were cold and not helpful at all, like a computer. I’d never stay here again.

The apartment looked like the photos, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here or return myself. It has no air conditioning, and the ceiling made me feel like it could collapse. The street has bars, so on some days, especially weekends, it was hard to sleep peacefully. You have to keep the windows open for airflow. It’s not in the city center, though a train station and several bus and tram stops are within a 10-15 minute walk. Uber and Bolt work very well in Lisbon and are inexpensive. The apartment is on the second floor with no lift, and the stairs are very steep, so it’s unsuitable for elderly guests or people with mobility issues. On arrival, I had to pay extra taxes I still don’t understand, plus 20 euros in cash for bringing my small dog. The listing clearly says it’s pet-friendly. I’ve booked apartments with my dog before and never been charged extra when a place is advertised that way. They said it was because I hadn’t mentioned the dog in the chat, but they also hadn’t said in the chat that they’d charge these extra taxes.
