SMY Lisboa

Leonilda at reception made a real difference from the start. We arrived at Smy Lisboa hotel on the 2nd of March, a few hours before check-in, and she kindly got us into a room early instead of just storing our bags. When we found a strong sewage smell in that room, she was reassuring and helpful. She gave us a map, pointed out nearby restaurants and shopping, and said the problem would be handled while we went for lunch. About two hours later, our things had been moved to another room, and the rest of our six-night stay, through the 7th of March, went very well. The hotel was very clean, in a nice part of town, and the staff were friendly and quick to help with any question. Leonilda also explained the bus, tram, and metro tickets and routes, and her knowledge of Lisbon's transport made getting around much easier. A couple of days later, Rui kindly drove us to the city centre on the hotel shuttle. That route showed us how easy the walk from the hotel to the centre actually is. Nothing seemed like too much trouble for the team. One thing that made sleep difficult for me is the frequent plane noise. The hotel seems to be under or near the airport flight path, with planes passing every 2-5 minutes, day and night. I'm a very light sleeper, so I might choose somewhere quieter next time. That's a result of the location, though, and for anyone less sensitive to noise, this is a welcoming place with genuinely helpful staff.
