Stay Hotel Lisboa Centro Saldanha

The carpets were soaking wet and there was mould all over the bathroom. They seemed to cover the smell with bleach instead of fixing the cause. The bed was comfortable enough, and getting around is easy, with the 760 bus right outside taking you where you need to go. Check-in isn’t until 4 pm, though you can pay €15 for an earlier one. It wasn’t a good stay, and I wouldn’t return.

Honestly, the room was okay, but the service was awful and the price felt like a rip-off. I arrived around midnight, and the rule they applied was so rigid and unreasonable: they charged me for three days, even though it was off-season. I think half a day’s charge would have been fair, or at most one day. The breakfast didn’t have much choice, and even at the discounted rate it cost €10, which was too much. I also got two different answers about switching rooms. One staff member said there was no availability because someone had booked it, then a few hours later another staff member changed it for me right away. I asked reception to have someone clean the room and put the cleaning sign on the door, but nobody came, even after 3 pm. The staff here need training in what service means.

Stay Hotel Saldanha felt very welcoming. Jandira, Julio, and Brenda were a great team, warm and professional, and knew a lot about Lisbon and getting around. They were genuinely happy to help. The service exceeded my expectations.

It was a really good stay for the price, with a spacious room and a comfortable bed. It feels like getting a proper hotel at hostel prices. There were games for guests downstairs, and having someone at the desk around the clock was useful. The shower curtain was broken, so it wasn’t perfect, but it was pretty much what I expected for the cost.
