The Central House Lisbon Baixa - Hostel

The city-center location and the bed make this place recommendable. The room was clean and alright, and the staff were friendly, if a bit laid back. The lockers cost extra, which they shouldn’t, and the shower door didn’t work properly. There’s no accessible window in the room. Breakfast had no fruit or vegetables.

A good, straightforward place to sleep if that’s all you need. The common areas have a nice design and layout, and the hostel is centrally located. It seemed to have lots of couples and families, so it felt less homely than other hostels and not like an easy place to meet people. Towels, breakfast, and luggage storage all cost extra.

Everything is walkable from Central house, and I felt safe there. The place was clean and central, but for the price I expected more. We had a private double room with barely enough space to move around the bed. The shower was dirty and the bathroom floor was gross. I’d have been happy if it were cheaper, but at that price it felt overpriced.

The location in Baixa was great, with lots of places to eat nearby and the sights an easy walk away. I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Lisbon, though it isn’t a particularly social hostel, so keep that in mind if you want to meet people. The common area is nicely laid out too. I arrived close to 10 pm and the friendly night-shift guy made check-in quick and easy. I had room 506, bed 6. The layout gave everyone and their bags enough space, and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. Toilets were clean, and the shower had hot water with good pressure. Wi-Fi worked well even on the fifth floor. I didn’t buy breakfast, but saw a good selection of eggs, ham, tarts, and bread. The room doors need a bit of force to close securely.
