The terrace was beautiful, and the place was easy to reach by car. We were surprised by how well equipped it was. Rodrigo had thought of everything, from surf boards to kitchenware. He showed us around, shared lots of recommendations, and made sure we had all we needed. He’s lovely.
If the hustle and bustle of Funchal isn’t for you, Porto da Cruz is a great place to stay. Mateus House is spacious and well equipped, and we especially loved the terrace overlooking the mountains and ocean. Rodrigo was such a caring host, and we’ll definitely remember our stay. Truly the greatest place to stay in Madeira.
The terrace is incredible, and the location works really well as a base for Madeira. Inside, every little detail felt thought through, and we had more than we needed for a great few days. Rodrigo was such a welcoming host. As an experienced traveler, I can say this was one of my best stays, easily 11/10.
We had a great time here. The owners were kind, quick to reply, and always polite. The terrace is fantastic, the kitchen has everything, and the internet stayed fast and stable. Alagoa beach and Porto da Cruz's seawater pool are close by, and there are walks right from the door without having to go uphill. With a car, Porto da Cruz is also a handy base for mountain trips and hikes.
I'm already looking forward to the holiday, and we can feel a connection forming with the house, Rodrigo, and Madeira. Rodrigo has been the most welcoming host I've met. He handles requests professionally and right away, and works out a solution for whatever comes up. Thanks so much!
