Maria was kind enough to hold my luggage when I arrived, show me around, and answer my questions and concerns quickly. The entrance can be easier to spot thanks to the photo they send before arrival. The bike shop and restaurant downstairs weren’t open when I got there in early April. My antique room was comfortable, with a washroom, heat pump, TV, origami love seat, soap for hands and body, and comfortable bed(s). The place is cared for and has a warm feel from the recycled wood. It smells as good as it looks. There’s a balcony overlooking the sea with plenty of seats, plus the occasional mischievous cat stopping by. The shared kitchen comes with complimentary coffee and tea. There’s also a cupboard and a spot in the mini fridge for each room, and a considerate shelf where guests can leave or pick up things they won’t take along, like soap, dry goods, or alcohol. There are lots of restaurants nearby. I had an assorted sushi boat at Ikura and highly recommend it. Local doggos might also come over to say hi. I’ve included a hike photo. The red line shows my route, the green marks the little Sunday street market, and the yellow shows the Moroccan sand beach along the way. A family was barbecuing and playing music on the mountaintop, lovely vibes up there 🙏😊.

We had a private bathroom, but could still use the shared kitchen and balcony, which worked out perfectly. The host who greeted us was so kind and welcoming. The room was arranged with real care, in a lovely rustic style, and I’ve never slept better. Even the memory foam pillows were great. Everything, including the communal kitchen, was beautifully put together and spotlessly clean, cleaner than lots of five-star hotels I’ve stayed at. Nothing seemed cheap or held back. There were free basics like olive oil, rice, and herbs, teas labeled with their health benefits, recycling set up clearly, and sustainability reminders on the walls that were actually nice to look at. It was a distinctive, sustainable stay that left me feeling restored. I’d happily come back.

This is a review for people who love cats and bikes. Sadly, we couldn’t go into the gallery, but we had fun just watching a cat snooze on a bike. We also read that 40% of any gallery purchase goes to donations for street cats. The man behind this is doing an amazing job!

We spent a week here and had a really nice stay. The room was clean and full of lovely little details, and the kitchen had everything we needed. The guesthouse is well placed, near Machico beach and large supermarkets, and only a five-minute drive from the airport. The host was so nice and gave us great suggestions for hikes and places to eat. We’d definitely recommend this guesthouse. Thanks for having us ~ Annika & Jannik

The location is right in the center, close to the beach, shops, and places to eat. The staff were really friendly and pointed us toward good spots to visit and restaurants nearby. Every room has its own lovely style, with an incredible amount of detail. There’s also a shared kitchen with everything you could need, and a nice balcony for morning coffee. One of the most distinctive places I’ve stayed. I’d definitely recommend it.
