The apartment was clean, had enough cupboard and storage space, and came with air conditioning. Towels were changed twice during the week. But the service fell short for what I’d expect from a three-star hotel, and I’d recommend the Wood steel & glass hostel around the corner, where we’ve stayed before without problems. The shower turned cold after about five minutes, and although we reported it twice and were told it would be checked, nothing was fixed and we heard no more about it. It took at least 45 minutes for the water to heat up again, so with four people a quick shower isn’t possible. The toilet was cramped because of a badly placed towel rack, the toilet brush holder had dirty water in it, and toilet paper wasn’t replenished, so I bought some myself. There was little space beside the bed, and the mattress was very hard and squeaked whenever I turned because of its plastic cover. On the second day, two men knocked twice, then unlocked the apartment door while I was sleeping. I don’t speak Portuguese well enough to understand what they wanted, and for a moment I thought they might be scammers. They turned out to be painters doing a short job in the apartment. We hadn’t been told about the visit, so sleeping in or being informed wasn’t an option. There’s a noisy sports bar across the street, with noise until 2:00 at night. The police even came to check on it.

Marta is fantastic. A really good place to stay.

The hosts were warm and accommodating, and the rooms were really nice. A very enjoyable stay. Highly recommend!

The staff were wonderful, and the place was clean and fresh. A nice spot. If I come to Marinha Grande again, I’ll stay here.
