Hotel Ouro Verde

The staff were very friendly, and the location was good with plenty of parking. Our room was pleasant, but it had only one power outlet, on the wall opposite the bed. Sound insulation was awful, so you could always tell when the “neighbor” went to the bathroom. The hotel is quite old-fashioned, and the bathroom was especially dated, with old fixtures, a toilet cistern without a flush control, and a tub with a fabric curtain. I also really didn't like having to leave the key at reception whenever we went out and ask for it again when we came back.

The room was spacious, and the bedding, cleanliness, location, and staff were all positive. There was barely any bathroom storage, though, so we had to bring in the balcony chair to put our toiletries on. Breakfast was mediocre at best. Even the coffee was terrible, which is a shame in a country where you can get such good coffee.

The location works well if you're visiting the city for the water park, and the staff were kind and the place was clean. The room itself was quite small, with the furniture leaving very little room to move around. There was nowhere in the bathroom to set things down, like a bench or counter, and the mattress and pillows were quite hard and uncomfortable. Breakfast was poor. Almost everything seemed industrially made, apart from perhaps the bread and whole, unpeeled fruit. There was just one cheese, individually wrapped square slices, and the machine coffee was watery, as was the machine juice. A real letdown if you like a good hotel breakfast.

A basic, clean, quiet place. If you're travelling by car, it works well as a base for visiting the nearby beaches.
