Premium Porto Maia

A customer’s personal belongings were stolen by the housekeeper, and the hotel director and manager have refused to take responsibility. That lack of accountability makes me seriously concerned about guest security and the hotel’s service standards.

Check-in was easy, the rooms were clean and nice, and the price matched the quality really well. I recommend it!

The hot water in my room, 1002, didn’t work, so I had a cold shower in the morning. Later, with the door locked from inside while I was relaxing, someone opened it and almost came in. The hotel had apparently given another guest a key without realizing the room was occupied. That’s not good. The staff were friendly, and from a high floor the views are great. Rooms are modern, clean, spacious, and have large bathrooms, but to me this is closer to a 3-star hotel than the 4 stars indicated. Breakfast was okay, though a true 4-star place might offer more choice. I don’t understand why there weren’t healthier options like muesli and unsweetened natural yoghurt. There’s competition near the airport, so I probably won’t return. It cost too much for what it was. I’d expect it to be around 75% of what I paid to call it good value.

Maybe this place isn’t a 4-star hotel anymore, but the room and service are still very good. I’m here for two weeks for work, and it’s really close to Maia industrial. You can tell it’s an old building, there’s even a CRT monitor PC on the desk.
