Axis Porto Business & Spa Hotel

The staff were the highlight for me. Everyone I dealt with was welcoming, polite, and ready to help, and that caring service made the stay feel personal from check-in through check-out. The room could have been cleaner, but it was still comfortable enough. If you want to feel looked after while staying in Porto, this is a good option. I’d stay here again.

We'd picked this place for one reason, the spa. After the long drive, all we wanted was a half-hour hammam, but once we got inside we didn't feel like doing it anymore. The rooms are generally clean, though at this price you could stay somewhere else. There were no robes or slippers, and the bathroom had only shower gel. To me, it felt like an average three-star hotel, not a four-star one.

I slept well because the bed was comfortable and there was no noise, though the hotel is in a fairly isolated area. I was reviewing the presidential suite, which is huge, but basic things were missing, including shampoo, tissues, and an iron. The shower needs renovating, as does the spa, as other reviews have mentioned. Front desk staff were polite and professional, but didn't help with extra requests. It felt like a three-star stay in a place advertised as four-star. While I was writing this, construction noise started in the next room, with no warning.

I went to use the spa as a non-guest, and the price felt like a complete rip-off. I wanted to swim, but the pool was so tiny my legs could reach every part of it, so I got nothing out of it. The cushions on the room beds kept sliding down whenever I tried to lie back. I eventually got up and left. It wasn't relaxing, and I wouldn't spend money here.
