The owners are incredibly nice, and parking on the street was no problem. Getting to the hotel by car is easy, too. The rooms are large, with balconies overlooking the river and old Town. The rooms and bathroom are a little outdated, but don’t let that put you off. There are three floors and no elevator, so ask for a 1st floor room if stairs are difficult for you.

The lovely man who runs this place has an affordable, clean, spacious room with a fantastic view over the dam's reservoir, old town and church. If you want an activity for the next day, check out Douro Pula Canhada for a canoe trip.

Simple rooms, but clean, with a bathroom and shower that work well. There's good wifi and free street parking right outside or farther down below. No fridge or water cooker in the room. The balconies are large, and the biggest ones have a shade tent. From up above the Douro, where Spain meets Portugal, the balcony views are excellent. Breakfast is served in the cafe downstairs: a roll, croissant, juice, coffee or tea, ham, cheese, marmalade and fruit. The hosts are friendly.
