Casa das Mourôas

This is about the café and bar service. There wasn’t even ham available to make a burger, and they had no lemon for a carioca. The mixed platter was sparse: some ham, a little cheese, a bit of bread, and olives. The place has a nice rustic feel, and the young employee was friendly.

We came as four people for snacks. The person who served us was polite and friendly, but the place itself didn’t match that service. It was freezing inside, with no heating on and the indoor temperature the same as outside. Our food took ages, probably because everything had been switched off. It arrived hot, but cooled down quickly. The alheira was poor quality and seemed warmed more than cooked. The moura was good. The toast went cold fast, and the packet chips were limp. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re just stopping for a coffee.

We were a group of four, and it seemed like a nice place for snacks. We only stayed because it was already after 15:00 by the time we were served. We waited an hour for a starter, and the four bitoques took more than an hour to come out. The meat seemed to have been defrosted on the spot, and the steaks arrived boiled. We asked to speak to the person in charge because a girl under 18 was serving us. Only the cook came out, and he looked no more than 20. Another person who’d been serving when we arrived had left, leaving the service to two young people.

The place was pleasant and we were able to relax by the pool, though in the afternoon the water was no longer in the sun. Breakfast wasn’t anything special, apart from the fruit, which was very good and juicy. There’s no Wi-Fi, which is a big downside I hadn’t noticed before booking. The accommodation is well located. There’s no private parking, but finding a nearby spot wasn’t difficult. We had a booking problem at first, but the person in charge handled it very well. You enter through the bar, which felt a little odd to us. All in all, it’s reasonable, though the price feels high for what you get.
