The house has a distinctive traditional feel, with parts carved right out of the granite rock, and the views are great. The owners are friendly and happy to share facts about the town and its history. They also have two very cute dogs. Amenities are all provided, including breakfast, and the internet is extremely fast if you need to work. I highly recommend a visit.

Check with the hosts before arriving because there are two ways into Monsanto and Casa de Amigos, and Waze sent us along the extremely narrow one. The hosts were incredible, helpful, and knowledgeable about the area. The apartment is small, with a low ceiling, so watch your head, and the beds are separate. The shower has excellent water flow, which was a big plus. Staying in the heart of Monsanto meant we could walk to the castle, explore the village, meet locals, see goats heading to pasture in the morning, and have a drink with people from the village at the restaurant.

Célia and Luís made the stay memorable. They were wonderful, helpful hosts with great activity tips, and it really felt like staying with friends. The adorable village and house have everything you need for a comfortable visit. It was very clean and tidy, and I loved the balcony outside. You can get a feel for traditional Portuguese life among the photogenic streets and houses. See you soon!
