The young host was lovely and helpful, and breakfast was excellent. But the bedrooms felt dark and unwelcoming, and the bathroom wasn't up to standard. I also expect more of the comforts of home. If getting around is difficult for you, this hotel probably won't suit.

We got to choose our room, and every one is different. The garden is lovely and peaceful, with a pool, and they serve drinks and finger food in the middle of the afternoon. Breakfast was served in a gorgeous room, with everything organic and cooked fresh when ordered. And the special extra is their own high-quality chocolate factory. Five stars.

The chocolate factory tour and tasting was a real highlight, such a unique experience. Palacete de Real Companhia do Cacau is in the lovely town of Montemor-o-Novo, and the spacious rooms have loads of history and charm with beautiful decor. Afonso and his family made me feel so welcome, and the service was outstanding. A wonderful mix of comfort and hospitality. I absolutely loved my stay and highly recommend it.

Staying in this classic Portuguese house was a lovely experience. It's been renovated with a lot of care, and the hosts were great. Such a peaceful, beautiful place, and the breakfast spread was excellent, especially the homemade preserves.

They walk you through how the chocolate is made in detail, which made for an incredible experience. The chocolate was delicious, too. The rooms are distinctively and beautifully decorated, the breakfast was perfect, and the amenities were top quality. A really unique place.
