The peaceful, remote setting is a big part of Monte da Estrela’s appeal. Wide open landscapes, complete quiet, and a breathtaking night sky make it feel almost unreal, wonderfully far from the rest of the world. The staff are warm, welcoming, and eager to help, so you feel right at home. The restaurant is a highlight, with delicious, thoughtfully prepared food in an intimate, unusual setting. Friendly dogs live on the estate and make walks around it even nicer. There are also scenic hiking routes longer than 5 km that aren’t listed anywhere, but are well worth finding. A perfect escape for peace, nature, and genuine hospitality.

We loved the laid-back, welcoming feel at Monte da Estrela. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and having outdoor chairs, a table, and a net really added to the stay. The food was full of flavor, and we recommend the cheese board. You can walk among the olive trees, borrow bikes, or relax by the pool with the two lovely dogs. At night, the sky is full of stars. It really feels like a country stay, and we’ll likely return.

The road to the house is dirt, not paved, so be ready to clean your car afterward 😉. The place is beautifully decorated, the staff are pleasant, and breakfast was tasty. It’s a lovely spot to relax and enjoy nature and the quiet. We really liked our stay. In my opinion, it’s better suited to couples than families with kids.

Lovely place, though it’s a bit pricey. Still, no regrets.

The scenery, setting, and food are all reasons to come to Monte da Estrela, but it’s the wonderful people who make you want to stay. The owners and staff are tireless, empathetic, and always ready to help everyone, even when they don’t have to. This place is amazing.
