Casa D Obidos

The breakfast experience was especially memorable. We had a wonderful stay in this antique house and felt as though we were living in a museum.

The kitchen is fully equipped, and the rooms are very spacious. This is a distinctive place to stay in a 19th century manor house, with parking and a lovely view of Obidos Castle, about a five minute drive away.

It was a nice, cozy place for our one night during the chocolate festival. We enjoyed the stay, and it was only about a 15 minute walk into town. Parking was available, which was the main thing we needed. I’m giving it four stars because I saw a big spider in the room and a smaller one in the cabinet.

The grounds are very pretty, and the fresh bread in the morning was delicious. If you bring tennis rackets, you can also use their court, which is a nice unusual extra. One thing to know is that apartments, which I think cost more to rent than rooms, don't come with breakfast, though they do include lovely fresh bread and some yogurt. We only rented an apartment for one night. The location was okay, but being near óbidos isn't the same as staying inside the walls, where it'd be easier to explore in the late evening or early morning before the other tourists show up. Our room was very old, without the charm of a medieval place. The shower looked old, though the pressure was good, and the towels felt a bit like cardboard from being washed and starched so many times. The bed was extremely thin and rickety. It was an okay night, but we regretted the choice. If we came back, we'd stay inside the city walls.
