The bathroom was awful too: no toilet paper, soap, or shampoo, and the glass door stayed open by at least three fingers, so there was no privacy. After I asked the host to clean and bring the missing things, we got two chairs, a bottle of wine, and four rolls of paper, though we'd already bought paper the first evening. Booking.com contacted the host after I asked for help and said cleaning would be taken care of. It never was. The place felt like a cramped space under some stairs or by an entrance, not a proper apartment for four. There was no terrace, and the traffic noise and morning light made sleeping impossible, especially on the sofa bed. It had no soundproofing or curtains. The apartment was dirty: a rotten peach in the sofa bed, gear and dirty laundry in the closet, crumbs and ants on the kitchen floor, and a stained sofa bed. There were only three chairs for four of us, no window, and no proper wardrobe. The entrance cupboard held a vacuum cleaner, ant poison, and cleaning products. The internet didn't work either. SHOCKING!!! Definitely not recommended.

Alfama is a handy spot for exploring Lisbon, and this small, modern apartment made a cozy base. The owner was very helpful and picked us up from the airport when we were leaving, which spared us a tiring walk uphill with our bags. Being right on the street at ground level did mean some noise at night.

A modern, practical place for two, in a lovely neighborhood. Transport and sights are close by, so it worked really well for our few days exploring Lisbon.

We travelled with two children, and this stay was miserable. The apartment sits at street level beside a narrow, one-meter-wide pavement and heavy traffic. Cars sounded as if they were passing through the room, so sleeping at night was impossible. The upstairs neighbors could be heard clearly, though fortunately they were quiet while we were there. In August it was 30 degrees Celsius with awful humidity. There were no windows, the place was only two meters wide, and the door couldn't be opened because it was at street level. Ants and other pests were there too. The flooring looked like a nightmare for both children and adults, and the shower photo speaks for itself. The air conditioner vent was the mailbox opening. The listed amenities were present, but the LCD TV was only 14 inches. Getting in was a problem from the start. We emailed the owner to arrange check-in and got no reply, then made repeated calls at international rates to confirm our arrival time. Once we'd agreed a time, the owner messaged us on WhatsApp saying there was a problem and he couldn't come. The key was left in a box attached to the facade. Access meant climbing five steps, I'm not exaggerating. We never met the owner and weren't asked for any travel documents. We even left the tourist tax inside the apartment. I don't understand how Booking.com lists a place like this. It was a complete disaster, and unacceptable.
