Hostel Argonauta

It's an incredibly peaceful place to stay, and there was no issue at all with hot water despite what older comments said. This is a spot to relax and feel at home, rather than a social hostel with a bar or organized activities. The hostel is right by the city entrance. The space and beds are comfortable and cozy, and the kitchen has everything you might need. The house was clean, towels were provided, there are two bathrooms and a little terrace, and the beds are made every day. The host is nice and available by phone, and we saw them in person once a day. Check-in is self-service.

Even with bad weather, this hostel made the weekend a great experience. It's roomy, artsy and cozy, and the fireplace kept us warm and in the right Obidos mood while we played cards. They even had Uno. The fireplace is a real bonus in the colder months. The kitchen was well equipped, and we cooked nearly all our meals. I'm picky about bathrooms, and these were spacious and clean. The shower was easy to adjust and had just the right water pressure. The owner was incredibly friendly and ready to help. He gave us information several times about getting from Lisbon to Obidos. I also had to rush out to catch my bus back to Lisbon and left behind a pillow my grandmother had given me when I was born. I only noticed once I was in Lisbon. I contacted the owner, and he found it and shipped it to me without charging. I couldn't have asked for a better stay, and I recommend the place wholeheartedly. We'll definitely stay here next time we travel to Obidos.

The location is hard to beat, and the hostel was perfectly clean. I loved the room setup, with mostly single beds. They felt like a luxury compared with the bunk beds you find in most places. The beds were comfortable, too. Self check-in was easy, but remember to check your email or texts for the instructions and the code to get the key. I never met the owner in person, but he was always helpful and quick to reply whenever I texted. I'd definitely stay here again. Finding someone to take you around Obidos or nearby places like Nazare, Batalha and Fatima can be difficult. I found Teresa (Teresa vai de feiras), and she was great. She picked me up at the hostel and showed me even more places than I'd asked to see.

A lovely place in the old town, with traditional architecture blended with a more modern renovation. The rooms are spacious and have all the essentials for a comfortable stay.
