Risa and Van made us feel so welcome in Olhão, and we’d happily stay with them again. From the start, they took care of everything with such thought and generosity, easing our worries and giving us thoughtful advice. We felt completely at home. Their house is right in the historic centre, making it a great base for exploring Portugal. The harbour, train station, local shops and market are all just a few minutes’ walk away. We really enjoyed our stay.

Van and Risa have clearly put a lot of thought into making guests feel welcome, and they shared all the helpful information we needed for an easy, relaxing stay in Olhào. They’re friendly and helpful, and checking in with the key box was straightforward. The Marmalade House is beautiful, spotless and very well equipped. The bed was super comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the en-suite shower room was great. It’s on a traffic-free street, within easy walking distance of bars, restaurants and the daily market. We’d definitely recommend it and hope to stay again.

We love nature, simple things and keeping life uncomplicated, so this place was perfect for us. We enjoyed every minute of our two-day stay, and would highly recommend it, though that’s just our opinion. It has a really relaxing setting and a one-of-a-kind mix of old and modern. Part of the ceiling is amazing. I’d love to have something like it at home. I’m drawn to originality and a different, alternative point of view, and this place really has that magic.
