Solar Santo Antonio

The villa is spacious and clean, with a lovely pool and a pool table. The kitchen could use more equipment, and none of the bathroom doors lock. There was just one set of keys, even though the place can sleep up to 28 people. It's very remote, so you'll need a car. The nearest train station is a 45-minute walk, and Palmela Town is 20-30 minutes away on foot. One thing to know: there's a very intrusive kitten. I love cats, so it was okay, though sometimes annoying. If you're not keen on cats, that could be a red flag.

We stayed for 15 nights with our families and everyone loved the house, especially the view of Lisbon at night. The whole place was spotless, with modern bathrooms, spacious bedrooms and a beautiful pool area for relaxing. Special thanks to Analita for everything, and to the man looking after the pool, whose name I've forgotten. He sorted out the AirCon, got the kids' TV working in the play room and brought us socket adaptors. We'd definitely come back and recommend it.

We spent eight nights here in late October 2018, a group of 14 including three children. The huge, secure plot gave the kids plenty of room to roam. The pool isn't fenced, but it's separated from the house by a low wall and gate, so it wasn't a safety issue for us. We spent most of our time outside by the huge barbecue, with coal provided. There’s also a closed summer kitchen with a fridge and sink. The house is in very good condition and divided into two independent floors, each with four bedrooms, a kitchen and a lounge, plus four bathrooms in total. There are several supermarkets within a five-minute drive, but you'll definitely need a car. On the downside, all the WCs are inside the bathrooms and the kitchenware is limited. We bought wine glasses, scissors and a colander. There's a family of cats on the property that we happily fed, and they never tried to come inside. We also appreciated the free midweek cleaning and fresh towels and bed sheets. Carlos and Vania were very helpful throughout, and went further when one of the kids got sick on a Saturday: they found us a doctor appointment and came along for the visit.
