Hotel Miracastro

The village doesn't have much entertainment, so a few games like cards or chess would be nice for the evenings. We had a tasty dinner of local goat and a good breakfast, and our spacious room looked over a gorgeous valley. The staff were very friendly, especially Miguel Angelo, who helped make our stay comfortable.

We had lunch on a Sunday and found a table easily. It's a very typical Portuguese restaurant, with tasty, traditional food in generous portions. The staff were nice, though the service took a while. Get the lamb.

The room was packed and noisy, and only two waitresses, the youngest ones, paid attention to us. The rest ignored us throughout. We ordered four dishes, but after a long wait only two arrived. The food was okayish, and the "Cabrito" was hard as a rock. When we accidentally broke a glass, they saw us picking up the pieces and trying to dry the table, but didn't help until dessert.

We've usually come here twice a year, but the quality and portions have been going downhill, and at this point I don't think it's worth eating here. Even though we had a reservation, four dishes took about an hour. The Bacalhau com Broa was dry around the edges and tasteless, and the portion was really small. The beef was unevenly cooked, with some parts overdone and others literally raw. The lamb was just right. There was no soap or paper in the bathroom, either. Bye bye from a disappointed customer, and good luck.
