Freesurf Camp Hostel

Miguel took us surfing at Baleal and made the lesson a lot of fun. He was really friendly and covered the key rules, along with how to catch a wave and ride it to either side. We all managed to catch plenty of waves. He dropped us back at our campsite afterward and shared a few nice spots to check out while we're in Portugal. Thanks!

Maria was a wonderful host, and the staff were so nice. They offer plenty of lifts around town, which was really helpful. The hostel has a big kitchen, a great view, and a pool. My only complaints are that there's no private toilet and the beds don't have curtains. Still, it's the best hostel you could choose!

The house is set a little above its surroundings, with quiet views over the countryside and bay. It feels open and peaceful both indoors and outside, and it's close to Ferrel town and a beautiful beach with colorful cliffs and a soulful surf spot. Everything is well equipped, including a pretty decent library. Maria & Miguel are discreet but very warm owners. I'd say it's a more authentic, surf-focused option. We had a great time here, thanks!

The rooms were clean, the staff friendly, and the hostel itself was nice. I booked this place specifically because the room was listed as having bath facilities, and I wanted to take a bath. But the stopper had been removed. When I called, they said they'd taken the stoppers out of all the rooms because filling baths would waste too much water. So it was shower only. Had I known I couldn't have a bath, I would've chosen one of the other places near Baleal beach at the same price. They should take that option off Booking.com so other guests aren't misled.
