The shared spaces are spacious and fun, and the staff are friendly. But the beds in the mixed six person dorm are like capsules, you have to enter from the end and crawl in, and there’s even less headroom on the top bunks. At 5'1, 130lbs, I was okay, but I wouldn’t recommend them for bigger people. The mattresses were really uncomfortable, with the metal springs easy to feel, and I woke up with a backache. The dorm bathroom has no lock, and there were some mosquitos in the room, in November?

Andrew was great, sharing local tips and making us feel very welcome. I had an amazing time, met loads of new people, and even learned to surf.

The nearest beach is only a 10-minute walk away. This hostel was awesome, with a really cool common room, very friendly staff, and a place that was super clean.

We stayed one night as a group, renting a private room and an apartment for prices similar to a hotel room. The apartment fridge was switched off, though we really needed it to keep some goods cold. Arriving on a summer evening and turning it on then meant waiting a few hours for it to cool. When I raised this, the receptionist understood and agreed it wasn’t great, but offered no solution. They just asked me to send feedback directly to management because otherwise they don’t listen, as though I have time to give feedback twice. I also asked for a one-hour late checkout and was refused. That was the very least they could have done. The private room, meanwhile, was like a prison cell, with no windows. They call a small opening in the door a window. It looked nothing like the photos on booking dot com, and had no ventilation at all, just a broken fan. Don’t rent out the basement room at full price without telling guests what it’s like. And please put some of the money from the business into basic maintenance, like ping pong bats.
