A wonderful place, with the feeling of staying in a château.

The hosts made us feel very welcome, and we had a lovely few days here. The house has been fully renovated and has everything you need. Outside, there's a covered patio, barbecue, dining table and pool, all in a calm, quiet setting. We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful spot on the banks of the Douro River. Highly recommend it.

The house itself is spectacular, and the service was good. The river is right beside the property, with vineyards all around. My concern was that the woman seemed to act more like a security guard than a landlady, as she was on the property constantly. There were 15 of us, but, as you said, we came to an agreement when we arrived. That didn't mean you could come and go as you pleased. I believe we behaved appropriately, so that sort of harassment wasn't needed.

It's a very large, clean house, well equipped, with a bathroom and toilet for each bedroom. The woman who greeted us was kind and helpful. Outside, though, the pool loungers are old and uncomfortable and need replacing. The pool gets sun all day, and one tiny umbrella doesn't give enough shade. The main drawback is the road to the house: for 7 km it's extremely narrow and feels like it leads to nothing. The house is lovely, but the drive is awful, and there's nothing in the village.
