Luis, who runs the suites, was attentive and helpful, with excellent advice about Portugal as well as the local area. The building is well placed for exploring the Douro region by car, and there’s a handy supermarket right across the street. From our room, we could see the river, which made waking up a pleasure. The suites themselves are very nice, and breakfast is arranged with a nearby bakery whose products are excellent.
