Octant Ponta Delgada

The location made getting around Ponta Delgada easy: Octant Hotel is across from the harbour, with shops, restaurants and everything else just a short walk away. We stayed seven days, and the welcoming, attentive staff made us feel looked after from the start. Breakfast was delicious every morning, with lots of fresh choices. Our comfortable room had luxury linens, plush towels and several pillow options, little details that made a difference. The stay made the trip more memorable, and we'd happily return or recommend Octant Hotel to anyone visiting Ponta Delgada and nearby cities.

My mom and stepfather loved their stay at Octant Hotel in Ponta Delgada and would gladly return. I'm sharing this on my mom's behalf; she stayed from late August to early September and is visually impaired, though not completely blind. The bathroom is entirely black, which made it hard for her to navigate, so the staff thoughtfully put white paper on the walls and doors for contrast. That care meant a lot. Better lighting or contrast in some rooms could help guests with vision impairments, but this issue wouldn't stop them from coming back. The beds were very comfortable, breakfast had plenty of delicious choices, and the hotel is just steps from the sea. The room fridge was kept stocked with refreshments, the nightly cookies were a treat, and turndown made each evening feel special. From the porters and front desk to the restaurant team, everyone was friendly, professional and caring.

We stayed six nights and would absolutely come back. Our ocean-facing room was quiet and modern, and sitting on the balcony to watch the harbour and town was a favorite. The staff greeted us by name whenever we passed through the lobby, and made sure we had water, towels or umbrellas for outings when rain looked likely. The included spa has an indoor heated pool, steam room, dry sauna, cool mist room, showers, lockers and robes. The rooftop outdoor pool was closed in December, though the bar beside it was open and quite busy on the rainy night we went.

The staff were kind and accommodating from the moment we arrived at 8 a.m. on check-in day. They brought us requested coffee and soda, which were complimentary, helped with other requests, and even made an ice pack for my wife's sore knee after a bike ride. We had an AC problem that first night and the front desk moved us to another room promptly. The rooms were spacious, private, beautifully designed and comfortable, with a fantastic view. Octant in Ponta Delgada ended up being one of my favorite parts of our yearly international trip to the Azores. It's close to the best parts of the city, with restaurants and shops a short walk away and our ATV tour just ten minutes on foot. We enjoyed the hotel's snacks, one of the best continental breakfasts I've had, and high-end chef dinners. Dinner was pricey, but worth it, and with more days we'd have eaten there again. The luxurious spa was well designed; we used the gym, pool, steam room, sauna and rain shower rooms. We also booked 115-minute treatments with Ana and came away so relaxed. If you're renting a car, paying for hotel parking is well worth it: there's always a space, and they lock the garage at night for extra security. We'd return to Octant Ponta Delgada if we came back to the Azores.
