Casa Az-Zagal

The food was the highlight of our stay at Casa Az-Zagal Hotel. Every meal was rooted in Portuguese tradition, and the head chef explained the story behind each dish. He was warm and clearly passionate about his work. We had a great chat and found out he’s a Manchester fan. I’m a serious foodie and have eaten in countless restaurants, and this was the best food I’ve ever had. We’ll be dreaming about it for years. Casa Az-Zagal feels like stepping back in time, with every room styled differently in the spirit of a traditional Portuguese home. It has loads of character while still feeling comfortable and inviting. The pool area is small but thoughtfully designed, and the atmosphere throughout is peaceful. Gonçalo, the General Manager, greeted us warmly, showed us around and shared the hotel’s history. He was friendly and approachable, and his enthusiasm really shaped our stay. Parking can be tricky because there’s no dedicated car park, so you have to use nearby streets. The hotel can also arrange private transfers through a local driver if you aren’t travelling by car. The staff, calm setting and unforgettable food made this a special stay we’ll remember. If you want somewhere that feels authentic and luxurious, you won’t regret it.
