Cem Sentido - Alentejo

We really liked having the place to ourselves after spending much of our Portugal road trip around crowds of tourists. The apartment was easy to find with GPS, though it isn’t particularly close to anything. There’s a pretty walk nearby, and the town is a three-minute drive away. Walking takes about 15 minutes, but the hills and heat make it feel longer. We booked to do laundry and relax by a pool, and were delighted that Nuno and his family had cooled the apartment before we arrived. We also had a private pool all to ourselves, and they let us use the wood-burning barbecue. They were so hospitable.

Such a lovely stay in Portalegre. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, and meeting Gaby and Niki, the most amazing dogs in Alentejo, was a real treat 🥰.

The pool area was charming, just right for a swim and a snack, and the house was huge and very new. It was a peaceful, incredible stay. The owner was friendly and helpful, and the town was a beautiful surprise to visit. I highly recommend it.

Portalegre has history, culture, and lovely streets to wander, and Cem Sentido is close enough to reach on foot. There’s plenty to do around the area too, from tasting local products to walking trails and finding nature spots. Rivers and natural pools offer places to cool off in the Alentejo sun. The rooms also look out over beautiful countryside, with rolling hills and vineyards, and the starry skies are quite a show. What stayed with me most was the welcome. The hosts greeted me with such warmth and care that I felt like a long-lost family member. They clearly put their hearts into making guests feel looked after. Cem Sentido is a rare find in Alentejo, with lovely views, activities nearby, and hospitality that made me feel at home.
