Pestana Colombos Premium Club - All Inclusive

The hotel was spotlessly clean inside, but that was the one positive. We arrived at 11 and waited until 3 for our room, only to be told they’d call when it was ready. They never did. We visited in May 26 and left after one night because the place felt run down and poorly maintained. The dining room looks nothing like the photos now, more like a school cafeteria. There are no lifts for luggage, and the corridors feel like a youth hostel. Rooms facing the car park have the best view; the ones at the back are dark because evergreen trees are only 4 feet from the balcony. The balconies are unpleasant to sit on, with blinds and a high concrete wall partly blocking them, and uncomfortable chairs. The pool area looks sad, the shared rooms feel like an old people’s home, and the tired spa seemed to be closed most of the time. We lost our money and paid extra to stay at Hotel Torre Praia on the edge of the small town, which was fantastic.

The staff were attentive and quick to help with anything we needed. This is an intimate, relaxing hotel right on the beach, with a bar, restaurant, wellness centre, pool, and all-inclusive facilities. We’ll definitely return for another holiday in Porto Santo.

Our flight couldn’t land in Madeira, so we ended up in Porto Santo and booked Hotel Porto Santo and Spa at short notice. The receptionist did everything possible to make our stay a good one. We had wonderful days there, with a beautiful beach view and delicious food at the restaurant, especially the chicken risotto. The staff were very friendly, and I’d recommend the hotel.

The staff here are incredibly helpful. I especially want to thank the woman who spoke to me by phone in perfect English and understood the trouble with our reservation, which was entirely our fault. She sorted it out quickly and in the best way for us. I didn’t catch her name, but she’ll know who she is. My husband Simon and I, Sylke, send her our very best wishes.
