Decanting Porto House

The beds were so short that anyone over 1.75 would find them really uncomfortable. There was no lift, no way to contact reception, cold water, and a lot of noise. For the price we paid, I expected more. I can't say anything particularly good about this hotel.

I enjoyed my stay, and the hotel was very good for the price. It's centrally located, with a large mall behind it that has a food court with lots of choices. There's also a self-service laundry across the street. Just be aware there's no lift.

We only had one night in Porto, and much of it was lost trying to get hot water. There was none in our room. We called reception several times without an answer, then went down three floors because there was no elevator. We were told it would be fixed in 20 minutes, but an hour later nothing had changed. On our next trip down, we were told the room phone didn't work. We asked again and were told to wait another 30 minutes, but still nothing. By our third visit to reception, we asked to cancel and leave. The manager said we'd still have to pay 50% for leaving early. Hot water is basic, and so is having a working phone or some way to communicate. I understand problems happen, but the response was completely unprofessional. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

At 5 a.m. checkout, I was made to feel unsafe as a woman traveling alone. I had booked through a third party and showed proof of payment, but reception accused me of not paying and called the police. The person there also tried to take my luggage so I couldn't leave. It was intimidating and unprofessional. I ended up grabbing my belongings and running to a taxi so I wouldn't miss my flight. The whole thing was stressful and humiliating, and was handled very poorly. The room was basic and not as clean as it should have been, and there was no elevator. The lack of professionalism, safety, and basic service was appalling. I would strongly advise against staying here, especially if you're on your own.
