At a lower price, this could work for budget travelers. The rates were closer to hotel prices, though, and the room was truly tiny, with the bathroom, kitchen, and bedroom feeling like one space. There's no air conditioning, the street is noisy, and the center is far away, though the metro is just a two-minute walk. There isn't an elevator, and the staircases are small. The bed was too soft. On the plus side, there's a coffee machine, a good selection of TV channels, and the Wi-Fi worked well. For this price, I expected much better.

The room had nice Ikea furniture and felt like staying at a nice auntie's house. The cleaning lady was very kind and did a good job. But during this infernal heat wave there was no air conditioning, just a fan. The street-facing room smelled of mold and was noisy if we opened the windows to keep from suffocating in the heat. I lost a night's sleep from the heat and street noise. At maybe $50 a night, I wouldn't mind the lack of air conditioning so much in this weather. Comfort costs money, but 70€ for two adults and a toddler felt steep. Eurostar down the street might have competitive rates if booked in advance, I think.

Just two minutes from Heroísmo Metro Station, the building is surrounded by restaurants and bakery shops, making it a good starting point for visiting Porto. It dates from the early 1900s and retains its original style, while offering a relaxing holiday stay. I recommend it.
