A system error led me to book the wrong dates by mistake, and I canceled just seconds later. I explained what had happened, but the property refused a refund and stuck to its policy without any flexibility or understanding. The booking was canceled within seconds, so I hadn’t blocked the room or caused any inconvenience. Refusing to refund me in those circumstances felt opportunistic. That rigid, profit-driven attitude showed no regard for customer satisfaction, and I strongly advise people to stay away.

We found the place spacious and clean, and the staff were friendly. They let us leave our luggage with them on our last day. It was generally quiet during our visit, though it was festival time, when nowhere in Porto is quiet. The location was awesome. On the downside, it was very humid and had a bit of a musty smell, especially downstairs. The downstairs bathroom is rather small, so probably not great for tall people, and the second bedroom is basically an open space.

I stayed for three nights and enjoyed the apartment. It was spacious, newly renovated, simply decorated, and had what I needed to be comfortable. The bathroom was really nice, the water pressure was strong, and the AC worked well. I didn’t use the kitchen, apart from heating a leftover in the microwave. Five-star hotels won’t give you a nice room, kitchen, and bathroom like this, but there’s no lobby or other amenities that I know of. The building is right by the cathedral, in a fantastic location and minutes from San Bento metro and train station. It’s also one of Porto’s highest points, so expect uphill walks or take Uber. I spent over an hour trying to find the front door after following GPS from the metro, which kept sending me in circles. A PDF with directions would help. After that exhausting walk, I rang the bell and waited long enough to wonder if I was stuck outside, which was a little scary. Even though I was on the second floor, there were a lot of stairs. I wouldn’t recommend it for older people or anyone who has trouble walking up two long flights. I’d stay again at the price I paid, but if the price goes up as they mature, the hill and lack of a view would put me off. I wish the owners luck.

João made our stay special. He greeted us warmly when we arrived, then arranged a last-minute airport transfer very professionally on the day we left. Obrogado João! The top-floor flat was clean, airy, spacious, quiet, and well equipped, just right for three guests. Its spot next to the cathedral is wonderfully central. We loved the whole experience and will surely be back.
