Pestana Porto - A Brasileira, City Center & Heritage Building

Most of Porto's sights are walkable from here, with Se Cathedral, livraria Lella, Bolhaus, and Ribeira nearby for time by the Douro river. It's a great base for exploring the city. Felipe, Marcia, and the other reception staff were attentive and helpful, with good recommendations. The bed and pillows were comfortable, and the room had just enough space. Breakfast had plenty of variety and was a good start to a day out. The gym has a treadmill, some weights, a ball for abs work, and yoga mats. I'd recommend this hotel for a Porto discovery trip.

Though it's right in central Porto, the hotel was wonderfully quiet at night thanks to excellent sound insulation. It's very close to Sao Bento central station and about 10 minutes from the riverfront. The room was nicely presented, and the staff were warm and attentive. Nothing felt like too much trouble. A very good-quality hotel.

The location puts you right in central Porto, with restaurants, shops, and major attractions within walking distance. The staff were also very friendly and attentive when we first arrived. After we complained about the room and noise, though, that service seemed to fade. Our room was tiny, and at this price I expected to be able to cast or stream from my phone, but there was no way to watch services like Netflix. The worst part was being next to an active construction site. Work started promptly at 8 a.m. every morning and went on all day. The jackhammer was sometimes so loud that the walls shook. At 5:22 p.m. it was still going, so there was no chance to relax quietly in the room. The hotel knew about the construction when it assigned us that room. When we asked to move, staff said there was nothing they could do and no other rooms were available. One person even asked, “Won’t you be out all day?” as if we shouldn't expect to rest in our room. A hotel room should be somewhere guests can relax, whatever their plans. Breakfast was below average and didn't meet expectations. With the small room, construction noise, no flexibility about changing rooms, and disappointing breakfast, this was one of the noisiest and least relaxing stays I've had. I wouldn't stay at Pestana Porto Brasileira again.

Patricia was especially helpful at breakfast, seating guests and taking coffee orders. The whole staff gave great service. The hotel was clean, with spacious rooms and a good location for walking around Porto. Breakfast was excellent. A wonderful stay!
