Ribeira 24 Apartaments

The location is the hotel's biggest plus. It's on a lively corner near the river, where things stay active until 2 or 3 a.m. If you want to sit on the patio, watch people, and listen to music, it's a great spot in Porto. The hot water was the deal breaker for me. Every shower went cold after about five minutes, every day during my three-day stay. The rooms also got stuffy with no AC. Opening a window meant bugs could fly in, and loud music played until 2 a.m. After that, restaurants closing brought the noise of chairs and tables, which was torture. There are no elevators, so anyone on the third or fourth floor should be ready to carry heavy luggage up and down.

We were allowed to check in early without an extra charge, which was a big help. The location was great, with easy access to everything, and the room was clean. The main downsides were that hot water ran out after about five minutes, there was no AC, and there was no elevator. Be ready to haul your bags up the narrow metal stairs.

Bad apartment and WiFi, broken heaters, no soap, and the pictures didn't match what was advertised. Avoid it.

The location is nice, and the apartment looks good at first, but the furnishings aren't high quality. The bedside lamp fell off the wall, and the plug socket came loose from it too. The staff were unwelcoming. We were charged €25 “for the government” because we arrived ten minutes after 8. There was only one coffee pod for two people, and I felt uncomfortable asking for another. It's okay, just don't expect anything special, and be sure to arrive on time.
